Checking the bulbs and fuse

Check and replace brake light bulbs if necessary.

If the brake light bulbs are OK, check the brake light switch. When you press the brake pedal, the switch contact closes and the brake light should come on.

Checking the brake light switch

The switch is located in the footwell brake pedal bracket.

Turn on the ignition.

Disconnect the brake light switch plug. Use a short auxiliary wire to make a jumper between both contacts of the plug removed from the switch. If the brake light comes on, the brake light switch is faulty and should be replaced.
