The instrument cluster is equipped with a self-diagnostic system. Before removing it, it is necessary to read the fault codes using the VAG 1551 fault code reader or the VAG 1552 tester. 4 fault codes can be recorded simultaneously. Sporadic faults are deleted after 50 "driving cycles". A "driving cycle" means the ignition is on for at least 5 minutes and driving at a speed above 30 km/h.
Removal
1. Loosen screw 1 and unhook visor 2 of the instrument panel in the direction of the arrow (fig. 12.29).
2. Remove the lower part 1 of the instrument panel visor by unscrewing the three screws (arrows) (fig. 12.30).
3. Unscrew the two screws (arrows) securing the instrument panel (fig. 12.31).
4. Disconnect the wiring connector from the instrument cluster.
5. Remove the instrument panel.
Installation
6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
