Removal and installation of brake pads and brake caliper since 01.96 (VW Polo 3)

Removal

1. Remove both guide pins from the brake caliper (fig. 11.13). Remove the brake caliper and secure it with wire so that its weight does not pinch or damage the brake lines.



2. Remove the brake pads.

Installation

3. Move back the brake caliper piston and install the brake pads (fig. 11.14). The brake shoe with a larger width should be installed on the outside.

4. Install the brake caliper with brake pads on the steering knuckle (fig. 11.15). Install the lower part (arrow) of the brake caliper first.



5. Install the guide pins and tighten them to 25 Nm.
