Cleaning the battery terminals (VW Polo 4)

Check the battery terminals for corrosion. Corrosion on the terminals appears as white or yellowish powdery deposits.

To remove corrosion, treat the poles with a soda water solution. This causes a chemical reaction with the formation of gas bubbles and a change in the color of the deposits on the poles to brown.

If necessary, clean the poles using a poles cleaner or a wire brush to remove any remaining corrosion.

After this reaction is complete, wash the poles and battery with clean water and dry.
