Engine code
The engine code is affixed to the timing belt cover. The engine code is also included on the vehicle identification plate and is stamped on the engine block on the transmission side (pic. 4.1).
The engine code consists of nine characters. First part (three characters) makes up the engine code, the second part (six characters) - «serial number». If more than 999,999 engines with the same code are produced, the first of the six digits is replaced by a letter.
